The issues 36 and 37 (October/November1980) of the Hong Kong journal "Guanchajia" (The Observer) published an interview that the author Helmut Opletal had made in August 1980 in Beijing with several members of the "Stars" group, plus a selection of photos that the author had made of the exhibited works of art.

In the interview with Yan Li, Li Shuang, Ma Desheng and Huang Rui and others, they discussed about the exhibition of avantgarde art , their perception of artistic work and the relationship between art and politics.
