Born in 1951, Yin Hongbiao obtained a PhD degree in law from Peking University. Later he became professor at the university's School of International Studies, specializing in the contemporary history of China and the Communist Party, the "Cultural Revolution", various youth movements in China as well as the situation of overseas Chinese communities. Yin has also been invited to teach at various universities outside Mainland China.
